A small plane has crashed into a building near an airport runway at Deer Valley Airport in Phoenix, Arizona, a Phoenix fire department dispatcher said early Wednesday.
A helicopter pilot for a Phoenix television station said he saw the plane crash around 6 a.m.. According to him, the plane burst into flames and produced a cloud of smoke that could be seen miles away.
So far no official details were available as the FAA and NTSB are still looking at the case as of this report’s writing
Firefighters were on the scene and had put the fire out within a few minutes.
Initial reports believe that the plane was a Cirrus, a single-engine plane that seats four people. One of the unique things about Cirrus is that is equipped with an airframe parachute that can be used in case of emergency. That parachute is designed to be deployed at high altitudes.
