Is the fight touted as “the biggest fight in history of boxing”, still possible?
According to Arum, it still is, as long as Don King is nearby.
Top Rank Head Bob Arum confirmed he recently had a conversation with King, his erstwhile rival in the boxing promotions. King was the promoter responsible for the “Thrilla in Manila” event headlined by Muhammad Ali and Joe Frazier.
“We had some good laughs. All that old stuff, that old history, is gone now. We’re both old codgers now. If Mayweather chose Don as his promoter, I have no doubt what would happen,” Arum told Michael Marley of Examiner.com.
“Don and I would go into a locked room. Then we’d roll around on the floor for a while. When we came out of the room, we’d have a deal and Manny and Floyd would be fighting each other next,” he said.
Recently, Mayweather has tweeted several times that he was with Don King complete with some pictures.
